ABOUT US

New York Artists Online had its beginnings, so to speak, in the mid-nineties when I learned about the Internet from a friend of mine. He had an Internet connection and encouraged me to get on the web and learn HTML so I can create web pages to show my artwork.  I picked up a book on HTML and created my first pages in code. It was fun. I loved it. HTML was like a logical puzzle to me. I loved seeing how raw code turned into visual reality.

I got an Internet connection (I think this was about 1997) and began creating web pages to show the art I was doing. It was great. If I had a conversation with someone on the street and they wanted to see my work, all I had to do was give them the web address and presto—they’d be able to see it. There weren’t many artists on the web at the time and I thought, wouldn’t it be great to create a website so that other artists can show their work too. I started to think of names for this website and I began a search of what domains were available for registration. I’m a New Yorker. I lived in the Village on West 4th Street near Bank Street for over 20 years. I love New York—its culture, its diversity, its’ ever-changing newness. The name for this website was easy to decide. I’d name it NEW YORK ARTISTS ONLINE. I was lucky—NewYorkArtists.net was available for registration.

The plan was laid out, the business registered in New York State, now the task was to find artists. I began NewYorkArtists.net with friends. I made it a point to network with artists and let them know about New York Artists Online and what it can offer them—TERRIFIC EXPOSURE. Thus, the website grew. Artists want exposure and because of New York Artists Online's great name and the work I did submitting the site to search engines, NewYorkArtists.net is one of the major sites on the web for New York Artists.

Nearing the ten-year anniversary of New York Artists Online, I decided it was time to change and grow. I wanted New York Artists Online to not only be a great website featuring New York Artists, but a website having resources that are important to artists, art students and art educators.  Thus, I sought out the assistance of web designers for site development and artists who researched many of the resources that are now part of New York Artists Online. Many links on the site are for educational purposes. They're for your information and are complimentary (not paid advertising) for you to enjoy and learn.

In addition to hosting individual artists' pages on NewYorkArtists.net, there are links to individual artists' websites. Artists and businesses can take out banner ads on targeted pages and artists can advertise their shows and events.

I have many business opportunities for artists, art students, interns and marketing/sales professionals. Please contact me for further information.

I hope you enjoy your visit. I welcome your feedback and comments.
