These cut paper drawings with red
acrylic paint and colored pencil started with a researcher’s
theory that Bythotrephes, the almost microscopic
Spiny Tail Water Flea, may be destroying the food
web of Lake Michigan. As I abstracted and repeated
the flea’s prominent tail, connecting and spiraling
lines appeared to suggest nature’s cycles,
webs and chaos.
